To vacuum seal dry goods, use only foods that are completely dry and already shelf-stable, such as rice, beans, pasta, cereal, coffee, nuts, or dehydrated foods.

• Clean and completely dry the Mason jar, lid, and jar rim.
• Fill the jar, leaving about 1 inch of headspace. For flour or fine powders, place a coffee filter over the food to prevent particles from entering the sealer.
• Place the flat lid on the jar, position the vacuum sealer firmly on top, and start the vacuum cycle.
• Remove the sealer, check that the lid is firmly sealed, then attach the screw band.
• Label the jar and store it in a cool, dark, dry place.
